When it comes to having a dumpster, it’s about location, location, location.
Bosley Real Estate broker Patrick Rocca found out how true that was yesterday with Leaside and Davisville residents lining up to drop their trash in a bin he opened up to the public behind his office at 290 Merton St., just west of Mount Pleasant Rd.
“It’s been overwhelming,” Rocca, 43, told the Sun yesterday. “They love it … I had one lady say to me, ‘You should run for council.’”
The morning collection drew lineups of cars around the block and filled two giant dumpsters Rocca paid U-Box-It junk removal to bring in.
A similar trash grab during the last civic workers’ strike in 2002 only filled one bin, he said.
“This is crazy,” Rocca said. “If the strike keeps going, I’ve already had thoughts about doing it again.”
Iain Bell dropped off two small bags of his household trash yesterday. He thought anything more was taking advantage.
“What a great guy,” Bell said. “It’s wonderful.”
Across the city, Bluffer’s Park was in need of some trash removal.
A Sun reader sent in a tip to torontosun.com/yourscoop after spotting seagulls feasting on trash strewn about the park while walking his dog yesterday morning.
Picnicking families were trying to make the best of the park but most stayed away from overflowing bins.
